As organic products become more prevalent in markets, some doubt the ability of organic agriculture to feed billions of people. Jeanne Merrill cites multiple surveys that prove that organic agriculture based on healthy, fertile soil can "produce equal if not greater yields in some situations as conventional agriculture." Cynthia Cory, Director of Environmental Affairs at the California Farm Bureau Federation, on the other hand states that although healthy soil is key to scaling organic agriculture, there are multiple other factors to consider before organics can become the norm.
